Kyrgyzstan Restaurants are mostly of the western style in the bigger cities. Places outside Bishkek serve Dungan, Uygur, Uzbek, Dungan or Kyrgyz menu. There are Stolovayas which are canteen styled restaurants and people love the local food and vodka served there. These canteens are cheaper than the fine restaurants but the food and ambience are equally good. These canteens are open during the lunch and dinner time so they are mostly crowded.
Cafes in Kyrgyzstan are also of good standard. Besides selling coffee and snacks, lunch is also served at noon. Fatboys Café is a well known café and restaurant which has large number of tables at the wide pavement of the road .In summer food can be enjoyed outside. Turkish plov is served and it is one of the most favorite dishes of the people. Restaurants near Lake Issyk-Kul serve noodles with jellied potato. Shorpur which is a meat soup is served with vegetables and chops. Manty is a dish of noodles with meat and vegetables. Dishes made of horse meat are served at most of the restaurants. All the restaurants in Kyrgyzstan are closed by midnight so it is better to finish dinner quickly.
Varieties of drinks are also served to the guests in the restaurants of Kyrgyzstan. Green or black tea is served and it is a very popular drink. Some traditional restaurants serve Koumys which is fermented mares’ milk. Dzarma and boso are the other popular drinks. chai khanas which are open tea houses are popular in Kyrgyzstan. Beer, local brandy and vodka are also served in restaurants.
