Kuwait Provinces and Cities make up the country of Kuwait. Kuwait is made up of six Provinces (Governorates) each with a capital city. Bubiyan and Warbah, the uninhabited island is also a part of Kuwait.
Kuwait Governorates
Kuwait Provinces are essentially six in number. They are:
- AL-KUWAYT – This province has an area of 200 sq. km. and a population of approximately 260,000. Al-Kuwayt, the country capital is also the capital of this province
- AL-FARWANIYAH – Al-Farwaniyah is the most populated province of Kuwait with a population of almost 625,000. This population is spread over an area of 190 sq. km. Al-Farwaniyah is the capital city of this province.
- HAWALLI – Hawalli province having an area of 80 sq. km. It has a population of almost 500,000, Hawalli city is the capital of this province.
- AL-AHMADI – The total area of this governorate is 5,120 sq. km. Al-Ahmadi is the province capital. There are almost 400,000 inhabitants in this province.
- AL-JAHRAH – Al-Jahrah spread over 11,230 sq. km., has a population of about 275,000. The capital city of this province is Al-Jahrah
- MUBARAK AL-KABIR – The population of this 100 sq. km. province is about 180,000.. Mubarak al-Kabir is the capital.
Kuwait Cities
The important Kuwait Cities include:
- Al-Kuwayt, the capital of Kuwait, has a population of approximately 33,000 people. This is the commercial and political center of this country.
- Al-Farwaniyah, the capital of Al-Farwaniyah has an inhabitation of about 84,000 people
Hawalli, the capital of Hawalli has a population of nearly 107,000 people.
- Al-Jahrah, with a population of almost 29,000 is the capital of Al-Jahrah province
- Al-Ahmadi, the capital city of Al-Ahmadi province has a population of about 19,000 people.
- Mubarak al-Kabir, the capital of Mubarak al-Kabir province is inhabited by roughly 33,000 people.
