Al Jahra

Al Jahra, the land of oasis is one of the most important of the six governorates or the 'muhafazah' of the country of Kuwait. The location of the Al Jahra province has added to its importance. Al Jahra is located about 50 Kilometers west of the capital city of Kuwait. Having a surface area of 11,176 sq km, it is the largest governorate in the country of Kuwait. The DMS latitude of Al Jahra Province is 29° 20' 15 ° N and the longitude of Al Jahra is 47° 39' 29E. Its height from the sea level is 46 meters. It is situated in the time zone of UTC+3.

Al Jahra, the country's principal agricultural region, produces and exports fruits and vegetables.

Quite evidently, the province of Al Jahra has the largest surface area of arable land.

The Red Palace or Al Qasr Al Ahmar is one of the important historical landmarks in Al Jahra. This place is known as the location for battle between Kuwait and the Dweesh army. Al Jahra was initially a village and most of the people in the province were farmers. However, with the economic development Al Jahra turned into a city and with time farming became a much smaller affair.
