Kuwait Public Services aim at developing the country's socio-economic structure through growth and prosperity in postal services, telecommunications, cable and radio services, civil aviation, housing, education and health. Public Services in Kuwait are involved in activities that form the foundation of Kuwait's developmental process. To simplify their tasks Kuwait Public Services are classified into two types. The two Kuwait Public Service Classifications are:
Kuwait Departmental Undertakings
Kuwait Departmental Undertakings include Postal services or Post Office Administration, Cable, Telephone and Telegram Administration, and Civil Aviation Administration.
- Postal Services – Postal Services in Kuwait is an autonomous department under the Ministry of Communications. In addition to normal postal services it provides e-mail (called k-mail locally), video conferencing, and telex services.
- Telephone, Telegram and Cable Administration – The services provided under this category include VSAT services, Internet, public calls through usage of magnetic cards, AT and T prepaid calling cards. Among the wireless services provided by the Ministry of Communications are Citizen Brand Radio, Smart Card, Maritime Wireless, and Motorola Wireless Services.
- Civil Aviation - This Kuwait Public Service is under The Directorate General of Civil Aviation. This directorate looks after the operations and maintenance of the Kuwait International Airport.
Kuwait Statutory Bodies
There are twelve Kuwait Statutory Bodies involved in the public services. Kuwait University, Public Housing Authority are two such bodies.
- Kuwait University – Kuwait University has 14 colleges under it offering 65 academic programs in varied subjects. It offers undergraduate, post graduate and doctorate courses.
- Public Housing Authority - This is one of the largest Kuwait Public Services.
