The Kuwait government is a combination of the parliamentary and monarchy government system. The monarch is the president of Kuwait. The Kuwait president is a descendant of the Kuwait royal family. The prime minister and the other cabinet ministers are elected by the Kuwait nationals. Moreover the state of Kuwait is divided into six governorates, which further have their own local governing bodies.
The Kuwait constitution was formed in the year 1962 and since then Kuwait has seen massive developments in the political front. Executive, Legislative and the Judiciary are the three departments on which the Kuwait government functions.

Initially the Kuwait males were only allowed to vote, but from the year 2005, the females have also been playing an important role in choosing the head of the state. The Kuwait nationals should be 21 year old in order to vote.
Kuwait politics also includes foreign relations, which have been managed diplomatically. Kuwait is a member of some of the international organizations like Arab League, African Development Bank (AFDB), World Bank (IRDB), Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and so on.
