Invasion of Kuwait

The invasion of Kuwait was one of the worst blows that the Kuwait history had to unfortunately face. Precisely, the invasion of Kuwait refers to the Iraqi invasion of the country in 1990. It took place on August 2, when the soldiers from Iraq attacked Kuwait all of a sudden, when the country was completely vulnerable and unprepared for it.

Cause of Invasion of Kuwait

Some time before the invasion of Kuwait, Iraq had accused Kuwait of producing more oil than the limit marked by OPEC. Another allegation was that Kuwait was robbing oil from Rumailah oil fields and also setting up military bases within the dominion of Iraq. However, Kuwait refused to accept these charges declaring them to be absolutely meaningless. The pressures and allegations from the Iraqi side continued to mount and a meeting was supposed to be held between the two states on 31st July, 1990. It was noticed that Iraq had made up its mind to dictate Kuwait and the invasion of Kuwait happened on the following day.

Invasion of Kuwait Effects

The country's military reaction to the Kuwait invasion was inadequate as its army was not at all prepared to counteract the attack. For an agonizing period of 7 months the country was plundered and looted, stealing Kuwait of its peace and liberty.

After all the mishap and misery brought forth by the invasion of Kuwait, the country gained its normalcy through sheer determination and courage.
