The youth of Kenya is a jovial, colorful and full of life people. The young crowd of Kenya is influenced both by the traditional culture and the western customs. The main problems the youth of Kenya faces today is the high rate of AIDS which is a feature of almost all the African countries. The political parties of Kenya are making their policies youth oriented these days as the number of youths in Kenya is high in number. Education and employment have become the first priority of the Kenyan government now days. Western pop, rock, hip hop and jazz had made its place in the hearts of youth of Kenya. These forms of music have a great market in Kenya.
An association called the Kenya Youth Foundation or the KYK was found at the commencement of the current millennium by the initiative of the agencies of the United Nations. This organization aims at developing the conditions of the youth in Kenya by borrowing policies from other countries. Sex education and the awareness about AIDS are the main initiatives taken by the government to educate the youth. The punishment which can go up to life sentence is still unable to prohibit the youths from indulging into drug consumption and drug trade. Many non governmental organizations are working hand in hand with the government to get rid of this problem. Many youths of Kenya have also joined these programs to fight against this social evil. Unemployment a recurring problem faced by the youth is also a factor which the government is working on and plans to overcome soon.
