Kenya Newspapers are one of the most significant means of communication in Kenya. The range of topics included in the newspapers of Kenya are diverse and touches aspects of International,National and Regional news. The newspapers published in Kenya are responsible for creating awareness among the masses.
After gaining independence in 1963 Kenya's Television and radio network was largely the mouthpiece of the Government. The Print Media was largely under private ownership and state control was not on them. However the state always kept a strict vigil over them to keep things in check.
The most important Kenya Newspapers were started as individual endeavors. The enormous growth of the newspapers however led to the establishment of groups of industries based on a particular newspaper. Gradually the groups began to expand their field and launched their own Television and Radio broadcasts. The two most important groups in this industry are the Nation Media Group and the Standard Group.
