Cities in Kenya are many. There are both large
city areas and comparatively small
city areas. Most of the
cities in Kenya are very modern and equipped with the modern facilities the urban population of any
city anywhere in the world can demand. In
Kenya though most the people dwell in the village and small town areas, but the
cities are also plenty in number. Some of the most important

city Nairobi, are
Mombasa, Meru, Kisumu, Nakuru and many more.
- Nairobi: Nairobi is a very important city in Kenya. It is not only the capital city of Kenya but also of the Nairobi province and the whole district. As a result this city is an important center of both financial and political activities. Nairobi city was established in the year 1988 and it gained the status of being the capital city of Kenya in the year 1905. This is most populous city in the whole country and also in the eastern part of Africa.
- Mombasa: This is another very important city in the map of Kenya cities. Mombasa was previously the capital of Kenya. Mombasa city has a separate name in Kiswahili that is, Kisiwa Cha Mvita. The meaning of this name is 'Island of war' which indicates to the many changes in the ownership of this city. Mombasa is a coastal city and has an important sea port and also an international airport. This is the second largest city in Kenya.
