Christmas in Kenya is celebrated throughout the continent as the population of Christians is approximately 350 millions in Africa. On the eve of Christmas carols are sung from the Congo, gifts are exchanged among peoples, and special meats are roasted for the Christmas dinner.
Christmas is a public holiday in most of the countries and in Africa people has their own traditional way of celebrating Christmas. After attending the churches and singing carols dinner is of utmost importance and paper hats, mince pies, turkey and plum puddings are the special attraction of the dinner. South African beaches have numerous families enjoying the sun and traditional Christmas dinner in barbeque style.
Christianity in Africa dates back to 1st century as Africa was a very peaceful and spiritual country at that period. Other than going to the Church and singing carols dances and nativity scenes are also performed in Christmas. Group of children go door to door and perform dances on Christmas songs and they are all dressed in skirts made of leaves. In return the kids either get money or gifts on the eve of Christmas.
Christmas In Kenya has a traditional way of celebration and the churches along with the shop fronts, mango trees and homes are all decorated colorfully and the palm trees are laden with bells and candles. All these varieties are simple but are very traditional in Africa and Christmas again calls for a Kenya holiday or maybe a long vacation in Africa.
