Tree coral also called Nepthea Tree Coral, Cauliflower, Broccoli or Branch Coral. Mostly reside in the Indo-Pacific Range. Looks more like a tree with a thick trunk and many branches. Some produces toxins harmful to other reef species. Sheds its branches at regular intervals and expands incredibly.

Ideal conditions for the survival of Tree Coral of Kenya:

Tree Coral is very sensitive therefore requires good care.
  • Color of light has to be Tan or Yellow and intensity of light should be moderate to high
  • Flow of water should again be medium to strong
  • Ideal Tank Conditions will be 72-78°F; sg 1.023-1.025; pH 8.1-8.4; dKH 8-12
  • It is semi-aggressive in nature
  • Iodine, Strontium, Trace Elements together with other food will improve its health

  • Originate in the Indo-Pacific Region
  • It generally belongs to the Nephtheidae Family
  • Survives with the help of symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae, within itself
  • Zooxanthellae produces food through photosynthesis
  • Not usually threatening to hard corals
  • But may be affected by them
  • Sheds branches which again grow into new tree corals

  • Opts for outside food such as Microplankton, baby brine shrimp, marine snow, and dissolved materials
  • Also liquid foods especially created for invertibrates
