Dances in Kenya are an important part of its varied culture. Kenya has a number of tribes who have a variegated cultural patterns including both music and dance. Kenya Dance is associated with their rich tradition of music as well. Several dances have evolved depending on several music in Kenya. Moreover, several tribes in this country has several dance traditions. The dances of Masai tribe is little different from other tribes that are inhabiting in Kenya.
Most of the dances in Kenya have come from their ritualistic festivals that are accompanied with chanting and several type of musics as well. For instance, the Masai tribe is known for their spectacular dance accompanied with a particular type of music that they perform almost ritualistically after their lion hunt to demonstrate their valor. In the dances that are performed in Kenya, there is a very important role of the drum as a musical instrument. Among other musical instruments that are almost inseparable from the dances of Kenya, there are several flutes, whistles, bells, long horns and many more. In fact several dances are there in Kenya that have been developed depending on the drum music only. In the western part of Kenya there is a place called Luhya where there is a special type of dance that is entirely based on a particular type of music played in drums. This dance is called Sikuti.
