Kenya is an amazing land of contrasts. However, the most interesting aspect of Kenya is its wildlife. But the different species of the Kenyan wildlife, specially the lions is in the verge of extinction due to mass killing of lions by humans for trade.In Kenya, the Laikipia Predator Project and the Kilimanjaro Lion Conservation Project have shown that livestock are effectively protected from lions
Kenyan lions are found in:
Amboseli National Park,
Lake Nakuru National Park,
Maasai Mara National Reserve,
Mount Kenya National Park.
Appearance of Kenyan lion:
Lion are soft-skinned animals .They are stocky in their body structure with broad well defined muzzles. They have golden whiskers around their face. Their manes are extensive, running well back, almost to the extent of their ribcage range The Kenyan Lions range from pitch black to a dark chocolate.
Behavior of the Kenyan Lion:
Lions live in prides sometimes reaching up to 30. They rest in the daytime, they hunt from dusk,. Common prey are herding animals such as zebra, wildebeest and buffalo, Kenya National Park.
Decline in the population of Lions:
The recent decline in lion populations over the past decade has called for the need to look into the matter and suggest measures to reduce it , understand their unique ecologies and behaviors, and to implement sound conservation programs to protect them. Therefore different lion conservation projects are coming up to protect the lion population.
