King Hussein

King Hussein also known as King Hussein bin Talal, is popularly accredited to be 'the father of modern Jordan' and is perhaps the most remembered and revered kings of Jordan. A leader par excellence, King Hussein led his country onto the path of modernization and prosperity.



Life of King Hussein:
  • King Hussein was born in 1935, on 14th of November, in Amman, Jordan.
  • King Hussein studied in Jordan and England before finishing his education at Royal Military Academy.
  • On August 11th , 1952, King Hussein succeeded to the throne of Jordan. However, he was formally crowned the king of Jordan, in the year 1953.
  • King Hussein was very fond of sports. He enjoyed car racing and motor cycling.
  • King Hussein passed away in 1999.


Achievements of King Hussein:

  • His Majesty King Hussein was a king who served his nation to the fullest of his abilities. He has brought about significant changes in the country and betterment in the lives of his country.
  • King Hussein immensely contributed towards the development of the infrastructure of the nation. His reign saw the boom in the industrial sector.
  • The standard of living of the Jordanians remarkable improved during his rule. Water, electricity, sanitation, education, high calories food were all available to the citizens of the country. On the ground of health, Jordan recorded spectacular progress, with infant mortality declining at the fastest rate.
  • King Hussein was a staunch patron of world peace. He played a pivotal role in the drafting of the UNSC Resolution 242.
  • Civil liberties, human rights and democracy have always been on the priority list of King Hussein. In the context of human rights, Jordan has the best position among all the Middle Eastern countries.

King Hussein ruling for 47 years, was the longest serving king of Jordan.
