Jobs in Japan are varied and contribute a significant portion of the Japanese economy. The numerous multi national companies provide jobs in Japan not only to the citizens but many foreigners. As Japanese economy is giving a lackluster performance of late the number of jobs had also decreased significantly. The population rate and literacy rate of Japan is very high and so people doing services are also equally high. People sometimes do two or more jobs to maintain the high living standards. From the medieval age jobs in Japan were limited to sericulture and fishing. In recent times IT jobs and bilingual jobs are in demand. The unemployment rate of Japan is very low, barely 4%.
