Akita

Akita, a significant city of Tohoku region since the medieval era got the official status only in 1889.
The city of Akita also goes by the name ‘Kubota castle Town'. This Japanese city had witnessed the changes of all the dynasties from Edo to Heisei. The number of canals and rivers which flows through the city of Akita along with the lush green parks enhances the beauty of city of Akita. Though not as big as other cities of Japan the nearby important oil fields and the silk industries has made the economy of this city very lucrative.

There are a number of parks in Akita which are adorned with gorgeous cherry blossoms every spring. The name of the parks are Koizumigata park, Bairin Park, Hitotsumori park Yugitei, Okawabata Riverside zonal Park, Fujikura riverhead and Suishinen. These parks are located very near to the city or in the city. Traditional Japanese garden blended with modern features are a theme of few of the above mentioned parks. It is better to make a trip to Akita during the Kanto festival. In this festival the town bustles with the rhythm of music and wonderful lanterns lights up the night. In the carnival marches the incredible feat of balancing by the acrobats can be witnessed. The wonderful sunset on the beach of the Sea of Japan is enjoyed by the residents and tourist of Akita as it is only a few kilometers from the city centre.

In 2005 two more towns, Kawabe and Yuwa, were included inside the city of Akita which led to further expansion.
