On the Pacific ocean, Japan is an island country comprising of more than three thousand islands and thus, the
Japan Climate is not same everywhere. If in some group of islands there are mild weather then in some other there is slightly extreme weather. But on a whole it can be said that the
climate in Japan, that it is a country of moderate climate.
In Japan there are mainly four seasons ; summer, winter, spring and autumn, or, summer, winter , rainy season and the season of typhoon . In summer season, in some part of Japan there are mild weather . But in some other part the people experience hot and humid summer weather . During winter again, in some part there the weather is dry and windy and in some other regions in Japan, snow fall and long cold winter day characterize the weather. During the rainy season that is in Japan during the months of June and July the annual precipitation reaches a high level of about 1700 to 1800 mm. From August to the month of October, Japan is often ravaged by the typhoon storm.
Japan is located within a wide and vast range of geographical area or rather in the map of the latitudes and longitudes. It is stretched from 25 degree North to 45 degree North latitudes, covering twenty degrees of latitude areas. Again, Japan is stretched from 122 degree East longitude to 145 degree East longitude that covers a wide area of twenty three degrees of longitudes. Because of this wide expanse, in several parts of Japan various climates can be noticed. If Japan is divided according to the climate in several parts then there can about six climate zones . These are, Hokkaido, Sea of Japan , Central Highland, Seto Inland Sea, Pacific ocean and South-west Island.
In Hokkaido and in the areas closer to the Sea of Japan, that is the western coast of Japan, there are very cold and long winter season with heavy snowfall and generally cold or mild summer season. On the opposite in the areas near the East coast or the Pacific coastal areas in Japan, though in the winter season snow falls but not as heavily as in the western coastal areas. And summer in the areas near the Pacific ocean is hot and humidity level is also very high. In the central area, climate is characterized by extremity. Generally the south-west part of Japan experiences heavy rainfall and typhoon.
