When a person calls on an emergency number in Jamaica the State Department relays the message to the consular officers in the country. The consular officers try to locate the person who has called on for emergency and pass on urgent messages and then contact the family of the person. The people when they need emergency help in Jamaica can also contact the embassy of his country in Jamaica.

A tourist police officer at every major police station in Jamaica provides help to foreign tourists who are crime victims. For further assistance and advice the ACS section in Kingston or the consular agencies in Montego Bay may be contacted through the tourist police officer.
