Surfing Tours in Jamaica

Surfing as a tourist activity in Jamaica developed with the discovery of the power of waves and swell in the surrounding seas and oceans. Jamaica is blessed with a surfing season of eight months which has resulted in the popularization of surfing as a tourist activity.

The Boston Bay in Portland was the first surfing spot in Jamaica to be recognized internationally. Surfers found the bay a surfer's delight with opportunities for both right and left turns. The reef-coral bay is suitable for all kinds of surfing, be it for fun or adventure.

The Wreck which used to be a surfing spot on the south coast was formed by a real wreck of a cargo vessel. It formed a perfect place for surfing but now has diminished in importance. The Zoo is a rocky-reef with both left and right direction. It is famous for the qualitatively better and consistent waves. The Zoo, however, is meant for experienced surfers only. The Canon Cave with a right direction is also for the surfers who have the knowledge of riding waves.

Other surfing spots in Jamaica include Kingston, Lighthouse, Long Bay, Makka, Littles, etc which are suitable for all surfers and provide scope of enjoying the activity of surfing.

The Jamaica Surfing Association established in the 90s has brought surfing as a significant tourist activity into light. Their work has developed general awareness about the pleasures of surfing as an adventurous yet enjoyable activity in Jamaica.
