Jamaica Beaches




Jamaica has a number of beautiful and relaxing beaches, which are a popular tourist attraction as well as an appealing location for local people.

Beaches in Jamaica offer pristine and heavenly beauty, and are considered one of the major attractions in Jamaica by tourists and locals alike. Besides being spots for relaxing and sun bathing, they also have recreational activities like water sports, diving and boat rides.

In Kingston, a popular beach is the one at Lime Cay, an island just outside Kingston. Boats are available from Port Royal to the island.

Two of Jamaica's most popular beaches are at Ocho Rios, the Turtle beach and the Mallard beach. Both are immensely tourist-oriented beaches with lots of additional activities, plenty of food stalls, and a number of hotels along the coast. Another attraction here is the James Bond beach which has the Golden Eye hotel, which was the residence of the famous author Ian Fleming, who wrote the James Bond series. "Dr. No" the famous James Bond movie, was shot here.

Th Dunn's River beach is another spectacular location, situated under the famous Dunn's waterfall, where the Dunn's River meets the Caribbean Sea. The natural beauty is breathtaking, and activities here include rock climbing and swimming.

Negril has the popular Seven Miles beach, which has a carefree, laid-back and idyllic attitude. Popular beaches at Montego Bay include the Cornwall Beach and the famous Doctors Cove Beach.

Other beaches in Jamaica are the Boston Bay beach, Port Antonio, formerly owned by Roger Moore. The Frenchman's Bay is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The Blue Lagoon beach was the spot where the movie "The Blue Lagoon" was shot.
