Pompeii is a Roman Italian city. During 1770s this beautiful city was being ruined by a volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. But still Pompeii Italy has retained its place in our hearts. This destroyed city is located near Naples.
The catastrophic eruption buried this Roman city under ashes. And for around 1600 years it was lost. But in 1748 it was fortunately rediscovered itself . Currently it is one of the most attractive tourist destinations of Italy. Today it very close to the inland but formerly it was probably situated near the coast.
The historians has discovered some ruined parts of this ancient city. 3 sheets have been rediscovered on the bedrock made of lava. They are found to be lying below the city. Apart from this bones of animals, ruined parts of potteries and plants have been found by the archaeologists. By Using the carbon dating an oldest layer has been found that dates approximately to the 8th, 6th centuries BC. it is said that during this period Pompeii was set up by the Oscans who used reside in the central part of Italy.
Now Pompeii is known as a scenic holiday destination of the tourists across the world. Pompeii Italy is presently a part of Vesuvius National Park and in 1997 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Apart from being a tourist destination it is also one of the economic hubs of Italy. The accommodation and convene facilities offered by Pompeii also demand mention.
