Lucca is the Charming jewel of a Tuscan town. It became a Roman colony in 180 BC. Completely closed to traffic, the rectangular grid of its historical center preserves the Roman heritage and monuments.

Lucca is a small town in central Tuscany walled from all sides. The historical walls of Lucca date back to the 15th century erected as a defense against the enemies. Lucca Italy is a blooming town that continues to preserve its excellent medieval treasures. Lucca treasures some exquisite palazzo, splendid churches, and towers.

The historical landmark of Lucca Italy – the wall system is built of small red brick specially created for its construction. There are other antique buildings like Giacomo Puccini’s home converted into a museum called Casa di Puccini, the Torre Guinigi, Palazzo Mansi the national picture gallery, and the Church of San Frediano the interior of which is decorated with carved baptismal font and a shrine of Santa Zita. In recent times the citizens and visitors to Lucca walk on the wide and calm roads that run along the wall tops sheltered by chestnut trees and towering planes.
