This capital of the province of Como is situated strategically at the southern tip of the southwestern arm of Lake Como. This picturesque and ancient city had been inhabited since the Bronze Age by members of a Celtic tribe called Orobii.

First conquered by Romans, and then by Franks led by Charlemagne Como, Italy was the center of commercial exchanges largely due to its location.

Como, Italy is a pleasant town with historical relics and Gothic architectural remains. The lush gardens and the beautiful view of the lake add to the charm of this wonderful and beautiful town. The main railway network has regular trains from Milan. It is also connected by train to various other major Italian cities. Flights can also take you to this destination from various parts of the country. For tours within and around the city, you have the option of buses, taxis, and even trams. For a trip on Lake Como, there are Steamers and boats.

Apart from tourism, the other main industry of Como, Italy is silk manufacturing. With international celebrities like Madonna, Versace, and Stallone choosing the city for residence, it has become internationally acclaimed as well.

Places to visit in Como, Italy give a splendid feel of ancient art and architecture. While on one hand there are a few historic churches and museums while edifices of eminence adorn the cityscape on the other hand.

Lake Como is the point of attraction for anybody visiting this area. Visitors are mesmerized by the blue waters of the lake, the hills and valleys surrounding the lake, and the virgin woods. Complemented by the lake, this small town has since historical days remained a center of tourist attraction.

With resorts and hotels welcoming tourists all over the place, Como, Italy is a rather unconventional tourist’s paradise. And lastly, with luck, you could be witnessing a football match, with the football team of Como, Italy playing at a fairly high level of national football.
