Tolerance, accessibility and ability to adopt the best are the three factors characterizing the Culture of Iran. The cultural development witnessed by Iran today is a result of a long evolution since the ancient times.

Literature and Language:

Persian as the mother tongue of Iran inhabitants, had been under constant evolution for more than 2500 years. This language is one of the world's oldest dialect and a significant branch of Iranian languages. On the other hand, the literary works in Iran gained considerable prominence through the works of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Goethe.

Art:

Culture of Iran in the sphere of art underwent several phases of development. The aesthetic thinking of the Iranian inhabitants finds reflection in the mosaic paintings of Bishapur and Achaemenid reliefs in Persepolis. However, the Islamic age brought in significant changes in the style and practice of traditional Persian art before modern trends set in.

Architectural achievements:

Apart from the traditional Kurdish wedding dance and paintings of Persian female musicians, architecture forms a significant part of Iranian cultural practices. The conventional teahouses, Persian Rugs, heaven-like Persian gardens and cuisines display some of the best architectural works of all times.

Music:

The history of Iranian music can be traced in the period of Barbod in the Sassanid royal courts. The music existing in the country in present times, is the result of the ancient music culture of Iran.

Iranian Films:

Cinema as an integral part of the Culture of Iran, has as many as 300 international awards to its credit. With well-known director like Abbas Kiarostami, film production in this country will continue to gain worldwide popular accolades.

Religion:

Last but not the least, any discussion about the Culture of Iran is incomplete without mentioning about the country's religion, giving birth to Zoroastrianism, Bahá'í Faith, Mazdakism, Manichaeism, Yazdanism and Bábí Faith. At present it is the Shia community that is majority in the country, offering its culture an assorted and a completely different identity.
