The oldest and largest pet insurance company in the US, Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) provides insurance for birds and other animals (from goats to extra large snakes) besides dogs and cats. VPI gives additional coverage for preventive care such as vaccines, flea control, and others, apart from covering over 6400 illnesses, injuries and accidents.

Insurance Programs :

1. Coverage for dogs and cats include:

• VIP Superior Plan (covers diagnostic tests, prescriptions, treatments, hospitalization, office visits, X-rays, lab fees, surgeries)

• Vaccination and Routine Care Coverage (offers over $200 worth of wellness services with no deductible for only $99 per year)

• VPI Standard Plan (same as VPI Superior Plan but suitable for those with lower budget)

2. Coverage for birds includes:

• VPI Avian and Exotic Plan for Birds (covers major medical treatments and surgeries for accidents and illness, minor treatments, lab fees, x-rays and hospitalization. Coverage also includes for self-mutilation, feather picking, egg binding surgery, and others)

3. Coverage for exotic pets (such as opossums, pot-belly pigs, iguanas, and others) includes:

• VPI Avian & Exotic Plan for Exotic Pets (covers major medical treatments and surgeries for accidents and illnesses, minor treatments, lab fees, prescriptions, x-rays and hospitalization)
