Founded in 1977, the United Health Care (formerly called United Health Care ) is the second largest health insurer in the United States (after Wellpoint, Inc.).
The company has made efforts for innovative and easily-accessible health care coverage for all Americans, ranging from introducing first network-based health plan for seniors in 1979 to that of new-generation consumer-driven health plans such as Definity HRA and Definity HSA, in 2005. The UnitedHealth Group Incorporated health care company is the parent company of United Health Care, the second largest health insurer in the United States (Wellpoint, Inc. is the largest). Presently, United Health Care, along with its sister company Uniprise, Inc ., maintains more than 470,000 physicians and 4,500 hospitals across all 50 states in the US and in four international markets. United Health Care has recently purchased PacifiCare.
