The PEMCO Financial Services (based in Seattle, Washington, the US) is a family of companies and enterprises comprising Evergreen Bank , PEMCO Insurance, and PEMCO Corporation , and School Employees Credit Union of Washington . PEMCO ( Public Employees Mutual Casualty Company ) was started by Robert J. Handy and in 1950, PEMCO was incorporated to write liability insurance. In 1963, the PEMCO Life Insurance Company was started to sell low-cost life insurance. In 1977, PEMCO had merged into PEMIC [ Public Employees Mutual Insurance Company founded in 1949] following a legal reform which established that separate companies were not required for property and liability insurance.
