Company Profile :

Group Health Inc. (GHI) was established in 1937 (then known as Group Health Association of New York ) in New York as a small health cooperative with a handful of subscribers and low premiums rate. However over the years, GHI has grown into the largest not-for-profit health insurance corporation in the state, offering medical, hospital, dental, mental health, vision, and prescription drug insurances [The name Group Health Inc. became operative in 1971 following a series of changes in the name of Group Health Association of New York, such as Cooperative Health Association of New York , Group Health Cooperative , and Group Health Insurance ). Presently, the GHI serves more than 2.5 million individuals. In 2001, GHI HMO received New Health Plan Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) while in 2003, the New York Health Plan Association (HPA) awarded Health Plan Achievement Award to GHI for its efforts to improve the health of its members and communities.
