Founded by Leo and Lillian Goodwin in 1936, GEICO ( Government Employees Insurance Company ) is one of the best-known auto insurance companies in the United States (initially it catered to the needs of federal government employees and their families but since the 1970s, Geico began to insure general public also). GEICO is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway and currently covers 10 million vehicles owned by 7 million policyholders (Geico is the 4th largest passenger auto insurer in the US).
