Company Profile :

Fireman's Fund Insurance Company began to function in 1863 in San Francisco, California (it was named for an initiative

whereby 10 percent of the company's profits were paid into the favor of widows and orphans of firefighters). Presently, it is an insurance company owned by Allianz AG of Germany and is based in Novato, California. Fireman's was acquired by American Express in 1968, but it became independent again in 1985, and was purchased by Allianz in 1991. It was one of the first car insurance providers, had issued the world's first airplane insurance policy, and covered some of the most catastrophic events in American History, including the Great Chicago fire, Boston fire, the San Francisco earthquake and Hurricane Katrina.
