Chubb's journey had started when in 1882, Thomas Caldecot Chubb and his son Percy had set up a marine insurance underwriting business. By the turn of the 20th century, Chubb had established strong relationships with the insurance agents and brokers, thanks to its commendable performance. The Chubb Corporation (the holding company of property and casualty insurance companies known informally as the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies ) was formed in 1967 and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1984. Based in Warren, New Jersy, Chubb Group are the 10th largest property and casualty insurer and the 156th largest corporation in the United States.
