Aflac Incorporated (NYSE: AFL ) American insurance company was founded on November 17, 1955, by the Amos brothers, viz.
John, Paul and Bill in Columbus, Georgia.The company was formerly known as the American Family Life Assurance Company, but in 1990 the acronym of AFLAC was formally adopted as its legal name. Aflac has three realms of operations, viz. New York State, the rest of the United States, and Japan and it employs nearly 7,000 employees. Largely an accident, life, and health insurance company, Aflac is an organization of reputation. In 2004, Working Mother magazine ranked Aflac in its list of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers”, in 2005 Fortune magazine enlisted Aflac in its “The 100 Best Companies to Work For in America” for the fifth consecutive year , and in 2006, Fortune magazine has named Aflac among “The 100 Best Companies to Work For in America” for the eighth consecutive year.

Health Insurance for Individuals and employers include :

Accident/Disability Indemnity Plan (covers expenses associated with an accidental injury. It pays the insured directly, unless benefits are assigned, regardless of any other insurance. Benefits mainly include: Accident Hospital Confinement, Accidental Death and –Dismemberment, and others)

Cancer/Specified-Disease Coverage (covers hospital confinement, radiation and chemotherapy, and surgery, besides others. It also covers a First-Occurrence Benefit when an insured is first diagnosed with internal cancer)

Dental Plan (This provides basic, preventive, and major dental benefits to covered individuals. The Dental Wellness Benefit is payable once per visit, regardless of the number of treatments received)

Hospital Confinement Indemnity Plan (Covers Hospital Confinement , Hospital Short Stay, Surgical, Wellness Separate Heart Attack, Stroke, Coma and Paralysis)

Hospital Confinement Sickness Indemnity Plan (covers benefits like Physician Visits, Hospitalization, Major Diagnostic Exams, Surgical)

Hospital Intensive Care (pays benefit in case the insured is confined to a hospital intensive care unit, regardless of any other insurance he/she may have)

Life Insurance (Term Life Insurance, Whole Life Insurance, and a combination of both)

Long-Term Care Plan (includes benefit like Nursing Home Confinement, Assisted-Living Facility Confinement, Home Health Care, and others)

Short-Term Disability Plan (provides with a source of income if the insured becomes disabled due to a sickness or off-the-job injury)

Specified Health Event Plan (This plan pays benefit if a covered individual is first diagnosed with a covered life-threatening disease or health condition like Heart attack and coronary artery bypass surgery, Stroke, major human organ transplant, coma. Its coverage includes benefits for hospital confinement, continuing care, continuation of coverage, and others)
