Bogor city was known as Buitenzong previously. It is situated in western Indonesia, on western Java island, near Jakarta. It was founded by the Dutch in 1745. Bogor is locate 300meter above sea level and is a popular summer tourist spot. It enjoys a cool and wet climate. The city has around712400 population.
Bogor has been noted in the Guinness Book of Records for the “most days per year with thunder and famously lush Botanical Garden, founded by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1811. this garden is famous for various kind of tropical tress like bougainvillea, waterlilies, bamboo. Pak Sukarna's factory on Jalan Oancasan is waiting for you to the southwest of the garden if you take interest in Gamelan and Javanese songs. The instruments are forged here using traditional method and are also foe sale.
University of Bogor and the faculty of agriculture of the University of Indonesia is situated here. The place also has a prosperous trade. Coffee, tea, rice, sugarcane, rubber and assorted spices are the main source of income.
