Bahasa Indonesian is the official and national language of Indonesia. This language has come from the Malay language. Actually both Malay and Bahasa Indonesian language has close resemblances. Bahasa Indonesian language was officially declared as the national language of Indonesia in the year 1945 and as such it is considered as the claim of Independence of Indonesia as the country declared its independence on the same date.
Bahasa Indonesian has actually come from a particular version of Malay language known as Riau Malay that was vastly used in the north eastern part of Sumatra. In the language group, Bahasa Indonesian falls into the group of Malayo-Polynesian language. This branch of language is again is associated with the main language of Austronesian languages. Today almost all the people of Indonesia speak in Bahasa Indonesian language.
Bahasa Indonesian language is mostly spoken in the city area by the city people of Indonesia. In the more rural areas there are several dialects of this main language that are mostly popular. Apart from Indonesia Bahasa language is spoken outside Indonesia also. This language is popular mode of communication in several other countries like, Netherlands, Malaysia, Philippines and many more.
Bahasa language has its own grammatical and writing patterns and rules. Its vocabulary is also very rich. Bahasa Indonesian language is a modern language and it has achieved its present form of vocabulary by borrowing a huge number of words from several languages. The languages from which Bahasa language has borrowed words, include, Sanskrit, Portuguese, Arabic, Persian, Dutch and some others. all these languages have ultimately made this language a very rich one.
