Strokkur is one of the major

Strokkur is situated in the Haukadalur valley in the southern part of Iceland. It is beside the Hvita river and near the Great Geysir. Strokkur is however not as famous or noteworthy as its neighbor.
Strokkur is a natural geyser that spouts out water and steam every 5-10minutes. The average height of the squirt is however much less than that of the Great Geysir,it reaches somewhere around 20-30metres.
The spout of water from the Strokkur is caused by the geothermal activity under the earth's crust. The water coming in contact with the hot rocks or molten lava is heated up and erupts through the fissures on the crust.
When not in action,the Strokkur appears to be a clean sheet of water surrounded by hot steam. It is a favorite among tourists who are generally not disappointed by the geyser as it erupts almost frequently. However the spouting of any geyser is not guaranteed and it entirely depends on Strokkur and the condition inside the earth's crust.
