Iceland Trip to Snafellsjokull National Parks is another important part of the trip as these is one among the major Iceland's National Park. Snafellsjokull National Parks was established on June 28th, 2001 and therefore it is the freshest and the newest among other parks .Its stretches to the eastern border of the Gufuskalar estate on the northern part of the peninsula along with the Haahraun lava field to the Gjafavik cove which is in south. It covers an area of 170 km2 and it’s the only national park to reach up to sea-shore. The coastline is alive with colorful birds during the breeding season. Lava covers most portion of the coastal area as this region is prone to volcanic eruptions and craters are formed due to this lava flow. The lava is covered with the moss but most of them are sheltered so well that it seems a natural artwork.
Geology of Snafellsjokull National Parks of Iceland, peninsula itself speaks of the diverse Icelandic past .Lava found in the parks landscape is of two types namely rough, jagged lava and smooth, ropy lava. These fascinating lava formations have lead to the formation of wealth of caves in this region.
The coast of Snafellsjokull National Parks of Iceland also harbored fishing outfits where hundreds of fisherman fished the rich fishing ground but it abruptly declined during the 19th century because of the changes in the fishing techniques.
