The strange color of the water of Blue Lagoon is caused by the presence of blue-green algae and white mud containing silica. The color is described in various terms,the most common being 'aquamarine'.
Almost all tourists visiting Iceland take a relaxing bath in the Blue Lagoon. It is both soothing and invigorating. Besides that the water of the Blue Lagoon is said to contain curative powers as well.
