Iceland Winter

Iceland Winter is not that much severe as is normal for a country situated in the similar latitude like that of Iceland. Iceland is a country that is situated very near to the Arctic Circle. That is why Iceland winter is supposed to be very severe as this country belongs to a climate that has cold temperate nature. But to the advantage of this country, the winter climate and temperature here becomes mild and very enjoyable due to the presence of the North Atlantic Current.

Winter season in Iceland though has a cold oceanic feature, yet the climate is very temperate as it is made temperate by the North Atlantic Current that is hot. That is why Iceland winter has generally a high temperature when compared to the winter climate in other countries and areas of the same latitude. Winter temperature in general, in Iceland, is mild and full of wind. There are some variations in the winter temperature in several parts of Iceland. Winter is very severe in the central highland area in Iceland. Again, in the south part of the country winter is more temperate than the north part.

Winter brings with it a number of adventure sports and traveling chances in Iceland. In winter Iceland glaciers are full of visitors who undertake various winter adventures. In winter there are the opportunities for trekking in the glaciers as well as conducted tours to the glaciers that involve riding in snowmobile as well. Moreover, the geothermal plants and spots are hot favorite among the visitors where they get ample chances to enjoy in the hot spring among the milky white snow surroundings.
