The Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest is an excellent example of neo-Renaissance architecture and is located on Andrássy Avenue, building number 22. Miklós Ybl, the renowned architect of Hungary had designed the building of Hungarian State Opera House in the 19th century. The building was designed in an Italian neo-Renaissance style.
The construction of the Hungarian State Opera House was started in the year 1875 and completed in 1884. The statues of world’s greatest composers, Beethoven, Verdi and Mozart adorn the main entrance of the Hungarian State Opera House. Statues of Ferenc Erkel, the first director of the Opera House and Franz Liszt, are placed on the sides of the entrance gate.
The interior of the Hungarian State Opera House boasts of excellent architectural work, frescos and works of renowned Hungarian artists adorn the interior of the building.
The Budapest Opera House has the capacity of entertaining 1300 people at a time. During the peak opera season in the months of mid-June to September, more than 50 opera performances are held. The prices of tickets range from 400 HUF to 9,900 HUF. One should try to book tickets for the front row and book them in advance. Tickets of the Hungarian State Opera House are available at the main ticket counter of the Opera House on the Hajós Street.
