Making Hungarian cookies is very easy and it is one of the tastiest items, which can be served as snacks during tea time. Hungarian food is very popular in Europe and though most of the Hungarian recipes are high on calories, they are worth eating because of the good taste. Hungarian cookies are one such food item. They can be made in a number of ways and there can be slight differences in the ways and methods of making it.
Ingredients Required for Hungarian Cookies
- 4 cups unsifted flour
- 1 pound margarine
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sour cream
- 3 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 to 2 cans apricot filling/ nut filling/ raspberry filling/ Apricot Butter
Making Hungarian Cookies
- Take the unsifted floor, baking powder, sugar and margarine and mix the same without making into dough.
- Add a little sour cream to hold the mixture together and portion them to 6 parts.
- Take each of the 6 portions and then make them into flat rectangular squares of 9 inch by 12 inch by 1/8 inch dimension.
- Now cut each of the flattened portions to three equal pieces and fill in with either of the fillings mentioned above.
- Soak in beaten eggs and bake each of the portions in an oven for about 10 minutes or until golden brown in color.
Hungarian Cookies are ready and the above mentioned amounts of ingredients make for five to six servings.
