Farkas Bertalan, an eminent Hungarian cosmonaut, is the first among Hungarians to walk the space. His example was followed up by several others. Bertalan Farkas started off as an air force pilot. He was selected as an astronaut on the 1st of March 1978. In 1980, Bertalan made it to space in the Soyuz 36 and stayed in the Salyut 6 space station for eight days. He is no longer into cosmology but heads the Airlines Services and Trade along with Charke's Simony's Travel. He started of as a volunteer Cosmonaut and was selected in the fifth international programme for Intercosmos. Bela Magyari was then his back up cosmonaut. Later, he worked as a scientist in the technical university of Budapest.
Farkas Bertalan was born on 2nd August 1949 and his profession as a research Cosmonaut ended on the 3rd of July 1980. He received his graduation degree from an aeronautical college in Szolnok in 1969, and again received his military degree from the Air Military College of Russia in 1972.
