The
Hungarian Space Office is the national space agency office of the Hungarian government. The
Hungarian Space Office was established by the Hungarian Government in January 1992. Mr. Kálmán Kovács, Minister of Informatics and Communications and the State of Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Water have been administering the space activities at the Hungarian Space Office since mid 2002.
The Space Office of Hungary coordinates, manages and represents the space activities of the Hungarian government. The office became a part of the Ministry of Informatics and Communications and then a part of the Ministry of Environment and Water. The advisory body of the Hungarian Space Office is the Scientific Council on Space Research. The Scientific Council on Space Research is the office, which provides the scientific background to all Hungarian space activities.
The Hungarian Space Office members are deputed by Ministries and Government Offices, which are interested in space activities, assisted by experts from varied fields of space research activities. The research and application activities of the Space Research are carried out in 25 different scientific institutes and university departments of the Hungarian state. The Space Office in Hungary has more than 250 scientists and engineers who are involved in various scientific and space related works.
