The Coat of Arms, the flag of Hungary and the Himnusz can be grouped together as the most significant Hungary national symbols. Hungary has a long history of owning coat of arms, which started with the arrival of the medieval age. The first coat of arms can be seen to have had a history that dates back to the Byzantine era. However, the current Coat of Arms is the culmination of the development of a number of Coats of Arms over the ages. The present counterpart of the coat of arms was adopted after the end of the Communist regime in Hungary, in 1990. It depicts a crown of St. Stephen, while it is widely believed that the 4 silver stripes represent the 4 rivers and the hills on the coat of arms represent the principal mountain ranges. The double cross on the right is the oldest thing to feature on the Hungarian Coat of Arms.
The Hungarian flag is again, one of the very significant Hungary National Symbols. The present national flag was adopted in 1957. The other significant national symbol of Hungary is the Himnusz or the official anthem of Hungary. The song was first adopted in the year 1844 and its first paragraph is sung at all official ceremonies. The lyrics of the Himnusz have been written by renowned Hungarian poet Ferenc Kolcsey, while the music of the song had been compiled by Ferenc Erkel. The song greatly stresses on Hungarians to be faithful to their homeland, Hungary.
