Water Route Greenland

Greenland is the biggest island in the world. Water Route is, therefore, one of the most important modes of transportation in Greenland. Water Route in Greenland helps the Greenland people in traveling because sea and airways are the only modes of transportation.

Sisimiut is the major port in Greenland. This port acts as the terminal for both cargo ships as well as passenger ships. There are two passenger ships and one cargo ship that operate from this port. The major bulk of marine activity takes place through Sisimiut port.

The transportation between towns in Greenland takes place either by water route or by airways. There are all total three ships that handle the major part of transportation in Greenland. The Royal Arctic Line travels between the ports of Greenland. The passenger travels from Narsarsuaq in South Greenland and Ilulissat in North Greenland. The water routes in Greenland remain free from frozen ice from the months of April to December. The rest of the year, the frozen water makes it very difficult to carry on navigation.
