Greenland television has only one service provider in the whole country. This television service provider is also the sole Internet service provider in the whole of Greenland. Greenland has however, one state based television service provider. This is known as the Kalaallit Nunaata Radio or in abbreviated form KNR. But this service provider is mainly a radio station that has recently opened a television channel as well.
Kalallit Nunaat Radio or the Radio Greenland is the main radio and television service provider in Greenland. This broadcasting corporation broadcasts their program in both Greenland and in Danish. KNR is a publicly owned sector. This radio station that has television broadcasting center also, is administered by the Government of Greenland. For running the administration and management committee of this radio and television center there is a managing body that consists of seven members.
The television department of this radio channel broadcasts Greenland programs for near about three hundred hours. But among the broadcasting time the largest share is of the Danish programs. The type of programs that this television in Greenland covers are not merely entertainment based programs, but there are several educative programs as well. Moreover, cultural, social programs are broadcasted through this television channel. KNR also broadcasts both domestic and international news. This television service provider is the main source of news and entertainment for the people of Greenland. There is also another television channel in Greenland that mainly broadcasts regional programs. This television service provider is known as STTK.
