Thanksgiving is another Christian celebration that is celebrated in Greenland as well. Like other Christian religious celebration, Thanksgiving day marks another religious observance in the life of common people in Greenland. Thanksgiving Day has several and different history of origin in some Christian nations like the United Kingdom, America, Canada and some other European countries. But in todays world, Thanksgiving Day has come to be known as another religious day that promises lots of celebration and enjoyment.
Thanksgiving Day, as the name suggests, indicates towards the norms of giving thanks to some people from whom the other party has got some kind of help in any aspect of life. Generally, people celebrates Thanksgiving Day as a day of gratitude to the All Mighty for whatever they have got at the end of each harvest season. But in United States this day is celebrated to commemorate two types of thanksgiving. The first can be witnessed in Virginia, where a Thanksgiving was held in 1619 in the Virginia Colony. There is another thanksgiving day celebration that is held to commemorate the help of a particular native Indian who helped the new comers to settle in Massachusetts.
Greenland also celebrates Thanksgiving Day but there is no other special reason behind this celebration, except that it is a Christian religious celebration. Thanksgiving Day celebration is always accompanied traditionally with a great feast. In Thanksgiving Day feast turkey preparation and dishes can be said to be must. There are lots of other traditional dishes that are prepared in Thanksgiving Day.
