WGC-Barbados World Cup
The WGC-Barbados World Cup became the fourth event of the World Golf Championships in 2000 when the International Federation of PGA Tours entered into an agreement with the International Golf Association, the organization which operated the World Cup beginning in 1953.
This will be the first time a World Golf Championships event, including the historic World Cup, has been played in Barbados , and only the third time it has been held in the Caribbean. Puerto Rico was the host of the 1961 and 1994 World Cups prior to the event becoming one of the four World Golf Championships.
The Country Club Course in St James, Barbados will host the $4,000,000 WGC-Barbados World Cup in 2006. A total of 24 countries will take part in the event.
The US have won a record 23 World Cups with David Duval and Tiger Woods winning at Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2000 when it was played as a World Golf Championships event for the first time.
In 2005, it was played at the Victoria Club de Golfe in Vilamoura, Portugal . The team of Stephen Dodd and Bradley Dredge led Wales to their second title in the event, winning $700,000 each in the process.
Tournament schedule and tickets
The 2006 WGC-Barbados World Cup will be held at the Sandy Lane Resort in St James, Barbados from 7-10 December. A Championship pass will cost you $189.75 which will cover all the days of the event.
