Target World Challenge
The Target World Challenge is played every December at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California . It is an off-season tournament with a field of 16 players fighting it out. The meet is hosted by Tiger Woods and the course is designed by Jack Nicklaus. Though it does not feature in the Official Money List of the US PGA Tour it is recognized as a part of it.
The top 11 players on the Official World Golf Rankings who are available at that moment are invited for this tournament. Four other players are chosen by the Tiger Woods foundation.
The tournament is a very lucrative destination for golfers as the prize money here is $5,500,000. Though the amount is the same as most of the other US PGA Tour tournaments the field here is 16 strong compared to fields of around a hundred and fifty. The winner gets richer by 1,300,000. Luke Donald won here in 2005beating Darren Clarke by two strokes.
