Pebble Beach Golf Links
The Pebble Beach Golf Links plays host to a number of tournaments throughout the year, including the US Open, one of the four Masters tournament held every year. Located in Pebble Beach, California the course is one of the several golf courses in the area and arguably the most famous in the western part of US.
History of the Course
Designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, the Pebble Beach Golf Links was opened on 22 February, 1919. Prior to the US open in 1992, Jack Nicklaus made some changes to the course like rebuilding the fourth, fifth and seventh hole. He even resigned the fifth hole in 1998, which replaced the old one. The course is set against the rugged coastline and has wide open views of the ocean making it one of the most beautiful courses in the world.
Course Trivia
- In 2001, Pebble Beach Golf Links became the first public course to be selected as the No.1 Golf Course in America by Golf Digest. You will have to shell out $425 for a round of golf here, which is amongst the highest in the world.
- In 2005, Golf Digest rated it as the No. 1 public golf course in the US.
- It has hosted the US Open four times, AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am annually and several other tournaments.
- Golfers like Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Tom Watson and Tom Kite have all won different meets over here.
