FBR Open
The FBR Open takes place at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) in Scottsdale, Arizona during the last week of January and first week of February every year. The event will be celebrating its 72 nd birthday during the 2007 edition making it one of the five oldest tournaments in the PGA Tour.
- The championship started in 1932 and was known as the Phoenix Open.
- It was then changed to Arizona Open and finally came to be known as the FBR Open from 2004.
Twenty-three year-old rookie John B Holmes won the 2006 edition of the championship, pocketing $936,000 for his effort . Ryan Palmer, Steve Lowery, Camilo Villegas, Scott Verplank and JJ Henry shared the second place.
Mark Calcavecchia had the lowest 4-day score in the history of the tournament with a total of 256 in 2001. He also had 32 birdies, an all-time record. Other famous moments from the meet include Tiger Woods' hole-in-one in 1997 and Justin Leonard showing the middle finger to the gallery after a poor shot.
Tournament schedule and tickets
The 2007 edition of the FBR Open will be held from 29 January-4 February. Tickets have been priced at $25 daily.
